Disability Support Services (SDSS)

Maejo University demonstrates its strong commitment to inclusive education through the establishment of the Disability Support Services (DSS), located on the 1st floor of the Maejo Student Affairs Center, Amnuay Yossuk Building, under the Office of Scholarships and Counseling, Division of Student Development. The DSS provides facilities such as laptops, voice recorders, and printers to assist students with disabilities, along with comprehensive wellness and academic support. The Scholarship and Counseling Office ensures continuous assistance for students with disabilities—from admission to graduation—through a structured support and monitoring system (as illustrated in the attached diagram). In 2024, Maejo University has 30 enrolled students with disabilities, all selected through the same admission criteria as other applicants, ensuring equity and inclusion. These initiatives reflect Maejo’s alignment with SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), advancing accessibility and educational equality.

The consultation and support process for students with disabilities at Maejo University begins with the Scholarship and Counseling Office, which sends an official list of registered students with disabilities to each faculty and academic division. Faculty advisors and designated staff then assess individual needs to identify necessary assistance or academic accommodations. Students requiring support are referred to the Division of Student Development (DSS Unit), where staff collaborate with faculty advisors to analyze issues and determine suitable interventions. If students can manage their difficulties independently, they continue under regular monitoring by faculty and the counseling office. However, if problems persist, cases are escalated to relevant units such as the Division of Student Development, the Academic Affairs Office, parents or guardians, or partner hospitals. The process concludes with follow-up evaluations and progress reports to ensure effective, continuous support until the student successfully completes their studies.
